On Saturday, June 21, 2025, the police and fire department were alerted to a dangerous fire in an empty apartment building on Sonnenstrasse. The fire, which broke out in the attic for unknown reasons, quickly spread to two adjacent houses. While one of the affected buildings was also uninhabited, the residents of the other house were fortunately able to get to safety in time - fortunately there were no injuries!
The fire department fought bravely against the flames and was finally able to extinguish the fire, but had to completely close Sonnenstrasse while the fire was extinguished. Whether and how extensive the material damage is remains uncertain. Today, a fire cause investigator from the Chemnitz criminal police will take a closer look at the scene of the fire.
