Federal police stop transporter: Eleven dogs without papers at the border!
On Tuesday at 2:15 p.m. a Dutch van was stopped by the federal police at the Hagenwerder border crossing. The 62-year-old Polish driver and his 63-year-old Dutch passenger had a small dog in the passenger compartment - but the screaming from the hold suggested much more. A slap in the face to animal protection laws!
The law enforcement officers discovered eleven dogs in the van for which sufficient entry documents could not be presented. Only national Polish dog ID cards were available, which were not sufficient to cross the border. Administrative offense proceedings were immediately initiated on suspicion of a violation of the Animal Welfare Act. Dramatic scenes at the border crossing – an outcry for our animal friends!
